WHAT SIZE KITEBOARD SHOULD I NEED ?

We generally don’t fix the riding performance of our kiteboards just due to the size. The outline, scoop-rocker, and bottom curves are as important and the whole 3D dimension give you the right performance, and builds the complete shape properties.
THE LENGHT: Our experience shows that board with a length between 130 and 135 gives the riders the best possibilities in all-round conditions. A short board is direct and gives a better control in choppy water. As the tips are close to the riders feet, the response is better and better submitted to the edges.
THE WIDTH: the width determines the all-over characteristics on Blankforce kiteboards. The wider the board, the more surface area you have. Shorter wider boards of today helps the rider to plane easier with smaller kites, even in gusty wind conditions and allow heavier riders to ride shorter boards. The width of Blankforce kiteboards is between 39 and 44 cm. The foot-position on wider boards is moved closer to the heel side, this allows you to press the heel-edge as easily as on a narrower board. This concept optimizes the Wind range and is an absolute advantage for riding in gusty wind conditions.

HOW DOES THE OUTLINE, ROCKER AND BOTTOM CURVE AFFECT ON THE RIDING CHARACTERISTICS ?

The shapers goal is always to give the ultimate between gliding resistance and freedom of movement. Blankforce propose you many different outlines that all comes down to you and what your needs are.
THE OUTLINE: The outline gives you rail contact with the water it also contributes to the all-round attitude of your board. A straight edge gives more resistance to the water surface for better upwind performance and a better pop off the water. A rounder outline allows better surf and jibing abilities.
THE ROCKER: The Rocker is the curve of the board from end to end. A board with a higher rocker has a better lift to come out of the water. The board feels free under your feet that maximize the freedom of movement and control in all terrain conditions. Too much rocker will cause drag and slow the board down.
THE BOTTOM: The concave in length direction also affects the characteristics of the board. All Blankforce Kiteboards have a progressive concave. The concave is like a channel that canalizes the water flow in to the riding direction. The concave gives you a better all over control and more forgiving riders small mistakes.
